Ontario investigates expanded casino gambling - Casino Online ...

In Canada, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced that it is hoping to expand land-based casino gaming across the province and has invited private operators to get in touch and submit their ideas.

The OLG was created in 2000 when the Ontario Lottery Corporation merged with the Ontario Casino Corporation and is responsible for the management of the province?s lotteries and casinos.

The Crown corporation revealed that it has identified 29 ?gaming zones? that cover every area of the province including the metropolitan areas of Sarnia, London, Ottawa, Toronto, Sudbury and Thunder Bay and has issued a request for information from private operators interested in developing casinos in one or more of these territories.

?This market sounding is looking for information from potential service providers that will help inform decisions about expanded regulated private sector delivery of gaming in the province,? read a statement from the OLG.

The OLG, which is expected to issue a similar request for information in the coming weeks covering the lottery sector, stated that modernising its lottery and gaming industries could see it add an addition $1.3 billion a year to the provincial purse within five years and bring in an extra three billion dollars in private sector capital investment.

?In addition to 2,300 net new jobs in the lottery and gaming industry, this initiative would help create an estimated 4,000 service sector jobs in the hospitality, hotel, restaurants, entertainment and retail industries,? read the statement from the OLG.

?While the new lottery and gaming model will include the expansion of regulated private sector delivery in the province, OLG will retain complete oversight of the sector, including responsible gaming initiatives.?
