Your Business Will Boom With These Internet Marketing Tips

For everyone starting a brand new business or seeking to expand their current business, Internet marketing may very well be the ideal tool to pursue your goals. Many internet marketing tips and ideas are scattered in various places on the internet, making it difficult to begin. This article should help you sort through this confusion with some succinct tips.

You should always remember that headlines sell when writing, so always use them in your promotional materials. The title should catch the reader?s attention and highlight your offering from your site. You can even skip a headline and put a photo there. Adding graphics can be a lot more beneficial than a headline or almost anything else.

Offer a FAQ section on your website to improve visitors? satisfaction. A quick answer to their question will make them feel that your website is helpful and friendly. This will increase the likelihood that they will make a purchase from you.

When writing content, use simple and plain language to make your points or describe your products. Actually using the word ?easy? in your content will get you some added attention. Most people prefer products that are simple, so by using these keywords you can entice visitors to try your product. People will not order a product if they are confused or feel like they will not be able to use it right away.

If you are good at creating an Ezine, it can be an on-going effective marketing technique where you can build a following with the people who subscribe to it. Add personality through photos of yourself, family, and staff. Think about adding amusing morsel of your work environment and also your life at home. Use of captivating words in your subject line, such as examples of easy, fast ways to attain their goals, will peak your customers interest.

Allow your customers to control the content that they get from you. Do not spam your readers with information they do not want or need. But if they feel that they?re dictating the search and that they?re not being coerced into anything, they?re more likely to trust your site.

When you are creating your website, you need to make it very content related and comprehensive. Your goal is to provide valuable information to your customers in a limited amount of time, so that they can make an informed decision about their purchase. Crowding your page or making it complicated to use will turn customers away.

Now you have seen ways in which internet marketing can be a cost-effective, simple and efficient way to market your online business, as long as you use it properly. Internet marketing can really be a huge asset to the growth and success of your business.

Learn These Tips Before You Make Your Travel Plans

Only pack the clothes you will need. In some instances, it does not pay to be over-prepared. Many people pack far too many clothes when they travel. This is a problem. It is especially a problem when they inadvertently lose the bags that contained them. Try packing multipurpose clothes that you can re-wear.

Inspect your hotel room for those nasty little bed bugs. As soon as you check in, turn down the covers and check the seams of the mattress for traces of bed bugs. Traces include bloodstains or the actual bugs themselves. This will prevent you from bringing the bugs home with you.

Of course you would like to take a bunch of gifts back to the people you love. This takes up much time from your trip and much baggage space on the way home. Just a tip: Enjoy your trip, and don't spend all your time shopping for people that aren't on the trip with you.

Before undergoing any major traveling, make sure you get plenty of rest the night before you leave. A lack of sleep can cause you to make poor decisions and causes forgetfulness. The consequences of bad choices when traveling are far more severe, than normal, so make sure you're well rested.

If you have a medical condition requiring prescription drugs, take the time to ensure a trouble-free journey by planning ahead. Purchase an extra supply of medications and pack them in separate places. Always carry one supply with you in your handbag and pack another in your suitcase. Consider mailing another supply to your destination, if feasible. Carry an extra copy of your prescription, as well as the name and telephone number of your doctor and pharmacist.

Bring along a "sleep pack" for long plane, train, or bus rides. Having a few comfortable accessories, such as a night mask, earplugs, and a small pillow, can make it much easier to sleep in a travel situation. This way, you'll arrive at your destination well-rested and ready to go.

When traveling by plane you should bring a light jacket with you if you get chilly easily. Airplanes are typically somewhat cool and often have fans blowing air for greater circulation which can make them feel even cooler. Light blankets are often handed out but they typically do not keep much warmth.

If you plan on taking an extended trip, you should look for ways to save money around the house during your prolonged absence. Some cable and utility providers will allow you to place temporary holds on your account for a brief period of time, during which you will not be charged monthly fees.

Trust locals over the concierge. Unfortunately, many hotels and their concierge services have agreements with certain businesses to steer guests to them, regardless of whether or not it is in your best interest. Instead, scope out a place that looks like your style and ask other customers for additional recommendations.

When traveling with small children, try to bring some food, drinks, and snacks that they enjoy. Most children do not like the food and drinks that the airline offers. Also, make sure to bring toys, games, and activities that they will enjoy for the whole flight so they will be entertained.

As was stated in the beginning of this article, stress is always a major factor in travel, for various reasons. You don't have to let it ruin you, instead conquer it by arming yourself with successful travel tips that are sure to make your journey worry-free and safe.

EE's 4G network to be available in 35 locations by the end of March 2013

Potential 4G adopters in the UK not only need to consider the price of EE's plans, but also the thin coverage currently available. This is slowly being fattened up, however, and today the company has announced that by March 2013, it plans to extend its high-speed network to an additional 17 areas (to make a grand total of 35). Those 17 towns and cities don't include last week's stealthy activations in Derby, Newcastle and Nottingham, or the planned switch-flipping in Belfast, Hull, Maidenhead and Slough before the end of the year. As well as gracing new locations with 4G and bolstering network density, EE is also upgrading its 3G network to support dual-channel HSPA+ (DC-HSPA+ for short). This is expected to be available across 40 percent of EE's network by year's end, and will also be enjoyed by customers signed up with Orange or T-Mobile. So, enough of the suspense -- head past the break for the full list of locales getting 4G early next year.

Rock legends take to New York stage for storm Sandy victims

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band opened an all-star benefit concert for victims of Superstorm Sandy on Wednesday, in what producers promised was "the greatest line-up of legends ever assembled on a stage."

The "12-12-12" concert at New York's Madison Square Garden features a who's who of rock and pop, including The Rolling Stones, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Kanye West and Bon Jovi.

"How do I begin again? My city's in ruins?" Springsteen sang. He was joined by Jon Bon Jovi for "Born to Run," ushering in what was to be a night of musical duets.

Next up, Roger Waters performed alongside Eddie Vedder, and later in the evening Paul McCartney was due to jam with Dave Grohl.

Comedian Adam Sandler took the stage for a Sandy-themed spoof on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," rhyming the title with "Sandy, Screw Ya!"

Backstage, actress Susan Sarandon recounted losing power in her New York home but said that was a small hardship compared to the real victims who lost their homes.

Steven Van Zandt, guitarist of the E Street Band, scolded "the oil companies" and "Wall Street guys" for not doing more to help.

"Even with the music business not what it used to be... we are proud to be here," he said.

Producer John Sykes said Waters, McCartney and Chris Martin of Coldplay had reached out to "other legends to join them on stage and create once-in-a-lifetime moments."

Before the concert, Sykes said $32 million had already been raised from ticket sales and sponsorships. With the concert's potential to reach 2 billion people through broadcast and digital platforms, organizers are hoping to raise tens of millions more.

To help with the fundraising, celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Kristen Stewart, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chelsea Clinton and Billy Crystal are taking part in a telethon during the concert, which is expected to last between four and five hours.

It is being broadcast live on television, radio, movie theaters, on Facebook and iHeartRadio, and streamed on digital billboards in New York's Times Square, London and Paris.

More than 130 people were killed when Sandy pummeled the East Coast of the United States in October. Thousands more were left homeless as the storm tore through areas of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, causing billions of dollars in damage.

Sykes said personal stories of neighborhoods and people severely affected by Sandy will be showcased during the concert.

Sykes was also involved with "The Concert for New York City" after the September 11, 2001, attacks, which raised more than $30 million for charity.

He said technological advances over the past decade have exponentially changed the reach of fundraising.

"We have both traditional and new media behind us in a way that we've never had before, and that is really going to be the 'x-factor' on how much money we can raise for the victims."

Donations raised from the one-night concert produced by Clear Channel Entertainment and The Weinstein Company, will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which will provide money and materials to groups helping people hardest hit by the storm.

Should Engineers Pay Less for College Than English Majors ...

Should students majoring in engineering, science, health care or technology ? all fields in demand in the job market ? have to pay less for college than those majoring in history, philosophy, anthropology or English? The governor of Florida says he thinks so, at least at Florida?s 12 state universities.

Read an article about this proposal, then tell us how you feel about this idea. What do you plan to major in? Why?

In ?Florida May Reduce Tuition for Select Majors,? Lizette Alvarez writes:

Rick Scott, businessman turned politician, campaigned for governor in 2010 with promises to run Florida like a successful business ? more efficiency, lower costs, less hand-wringing and measurable results.

Now, looking for more value on the remaining dollars, Governor Scott and Republican lawmakers are prodding Florida?s 12 state universities to find ways to steer students toward majors that are in demand in the job market.

The message from Tallahassee could not be blunter: Give us engineers, scientists, health care specialists and technology experts. Do not worry so much about historians, philosophers, anthropologists and English majors.

To nudge students toward job-friendly degrees, the governor?s task force on higher education suggested recently that university tuition rates be frozen for three years for majors in ?strategic areas,? which would vary depending on supply and demand. An undergraduate student would pay less for a degree in engineering or biotechnology ? whose classes are among the most expensive for universities ? than for a degree in history or psychology. State financing, which has dropped drastically in the past five years, would be expected to make up the tuition gap.

Students: Tell us ?

  • Do you think a system like this would nudge students toward ?job-friendly? degrees in high-need areas like technology and science?
  • Do you think this system is fair? Do you think it is a good idea?
  • Do you think studying the humanities? the arts, English and history ? is worthwhile, even if those majors are not as in demand for jobs? Why or why not?
  • Do you agree with the governor that, during a time when generous state financing for higher education is no longer an option and jobs are scarce, universities need to be practical about the value of their degrees and evolve with the economy?
  • What do you plan to major in? Why? How ?job friendly? do you think that major is? What do you plan to do with it after college?

West Virginia Natural Gas Explosion - Business Insider

Reports are coming in of a big explosion in Sissonville, West Virginia (scroll down for photos and video).

Via local news outlet WSAZ:

The northbound lanes of Interstate 77 are closed in the Sissonville area, from Tuppers Creek to Pocatalico due to what's being called a major gas line explosion.

Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper tells WSAZ.com crews were called to what was described as a major gas line explosion in Sissonville.

WSAZ says that right now, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. A "Shelter in Place" has been issued for buildings in the area, though.

The AP reports that according to state police, several structures are on fire.

West Virginia Metro News cites?Kanahwa County Commissioner Kent Carper:

"The flames are shooting 50, 75 to 100 feet. There's fire everywhere," said Carper reporting from the scene on 58-WCHS. "Gas company is on the scene working with emergency officials to get the gas shut off, then we'll assess if we have injuries or casualties. At this time it's a fairly chaotic scene."

...

"Several structures are involved. The fire is so hot it's like a blevy. It's caused houses to melt and burn way far away," he said. "Many structures are on fire in a large fire area stretching hundreds and hundreds of feet."

Now, WSAZ reports that the well has been capped.

The Charleston Gazette is reporting that the fire has been put out, and the search for casualties is underway:

Crews apparently extinguished the fire just before 2 p.m. but a large amount of fumes remain in the air, said Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper.

Carper said paramedics and emergency responders are going into homes and apartments now to assess injuries or fatalities.

Bloomberg News (via the Bloomberg terminal) cites West Virginia officials confirming earlier reports, saying the gas line has been shut off, there are still no confirmed injuries or deaths, and a search is underway for victims.

Readers can also?follow along via a live audio feed?of Kanawha County's emergency services scanners.

Local news outlet WOWK posted this sobering video of the flames towering into the air:

Wreaths for graves of veterans delivered to Suffolk | WTKR.com ...

It was a special delivery in Suffolk on Wednesday afternoon as a tractor-trailer full of fresh wreaths arrived at a storage facility off Dill Road.

The wreaths shipped in from Maine will be placed on every grave the the Albert Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk this Saturday.

?It?s just to show some honor and some respect to the veterans and their spouses,? explained Horton Wreath Society President John Tutunjian.

4,075 were purchased this year at a cost of roughly $36,000.

That?s a significant increase over previous years as more and more veterans are now buried at the Horton Cemetery.

?Probably next year we?ll run about 5,500 wreaths at least. So this is a continual year round project,? explained Horton Wreath Society Treasurer Becca Landick. ?We don?t stop just because this weekend?s event is going to be over. We collect all year long.?

?The number is increasing exponentially every year. We started off 5 years ago with around 1,200 wreaths,? explained Tutunjian.

On Thursday, the wreaths will be fluffed and prepared before being loaded onto a donated tractor-trailer.

That tractor-trailer will then be escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders Saturday morning into the Horton Veterans Cemetery where the wreaths will be placed on every grave site.

?You step back, you take a deep breath, and you thank God. You?re thankful for their service, you remember their service,? Landick said. ?You?ve honored their service and they are not forgotten.?

The Horton Wreath Society relies solely on donations to cover the costs of purchasing the wreaths.

Google60 simulates 'Mad Men' era punch card web searches, BYOB

Google60 shows 'Mad Men' era web searches, complete with punch cards, tape

If you've ever pondered what Google "web" searching would have been like in the 60s, the Google60 art project has got a pretty natty-looking response. Created by designer Norbert Landsteiner of Google BBS fame, it lets you enter your search term via punch cards of the era, then heads off to the tape archives for text, news or image results -- which it furiously outputs on a simulated typewriter-style printer. The project uses actual sounds from an IBM 129 keypunch and Teletype Model ASR 33, while paying homage to the classic IBM system 360 mainframe in the image above. So, hit the source, pour up a scotch and have a gas searching, man.
